Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli has been accused of stealing script writer cum Toronto Black Film Festival coordinator Jude Idada’s intellectual property without acknowledging nor paying him even after writing the script for her. The Canada-based writer Idada has accused Nollywood producer, director and actor, Omoni Oboli of copying his script for her new movie Okafor’s Law which is set to make its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
In an exclusive audio interview with True Nollywood Stories (TNS), Idada stated that he wrote the script of Oboli’s Okafor’s Law and that Omoni and her husband Nnamdi only had a title but no story line. After showing her the script, Omoni and her husband Nnamdi took interest in it and decided to produce it. According to him, he agreed to have a contract with them because of what happened in the case of Being Mrs Eliot which he contributed to but was not credited for his input in the movie. So for Okafor’s Law, in September or October 2015, he said they agreed to have a contract signed and also that he will be paid $5,000 which as at that time was N750, 000 for the story. However, they neither paid him nor gave him credit for the script. The movie is now set for its world premiere.
